She whirled on him, her eyes flashing with anger and pain. She took a step closer to him. "What do you want from me? An apology? I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to hurt you, but Niko had me afraid of my own shadow. I can't undo the past, Faramir. All I ever wanted was for Denethor to listen to me. He blamed me for Mother's dead. And when he wouldn't listen, I..." she broke off and looked out over the city.
"If you want me to go, I will," her voice was soft, threaded with pain, "The only time you might see me is if Strider calls for me. The Valar know I've cause you enough pain already. I was so lost and confused and I wasn't thinking. I...I just....Do you remember that you were the one who taught me to read? For those moments, I was the center of your world, a place I wasn't able to be often. When I stopped coming, when Niko came, I thought you hated me for leaving you. As long as I didn't go see you I could hope that you didn't really hate me."
She closed her eyes and swallowed hard to fight off the tears that had come to her eyes. "That's the same reason I didn't come back sooner. Boromir...I saw him when he was on his journey and I couldn't say anything to him either. The Elves had to make me. He swore that he didn't hate me and that you wouldn't either. He promised to come back after his journey...but he didn't."
A couple of tears slipped down her cheeks. "And I grew afraid again, afraid that he was wrong. I had already lost one brother, I couldn't bare the idea of loosing the other. So I watched you from the shadows, helping where I could, helping your rangers. Please don't hate me," her last comment was whispered.

Aragorn moved out onto the battlement. "I'm sorry but I couldn't help over hearing. I hate to see one who i think of as a brother and another who i have come to love as a sister fight. Rana i wish you to stay in Gondor but not in Minas Tirith. Faramir if you would allow it i would like you to oversee the training of the new batch of Rangers to be sent to the outskirts of Rhun. And by your leave of course leave the Rangers of Ithilien under the command of Brania till your return." he said. He looked both of them in the eye. "It's your call Faramir. Either way i wish for Bania to stay, if not in Minas Tirith, then in Cair Andros."

Brania turned as she heard Strider's voice behind them, swallowing hard to clear her throat. This was getting very emotional and she used his interuption to bring her thoughts back to the present. Obviously the rift that had grown between her and her brother would take a while to repair.
"I cannot stay if Faramir doesn't want me to, Strider. I will help where I can, but I am not a leader of warriors, nor really a warrior at heart. I can fight with decent skill, but I am not gifted in tactics and such as my brother is or you are."

Faramir turned to Aragorn and felt, if only for a moment, that he wanted to strangle him. This was something he had known and had kept from Faramir all of this time. But, he was trying to help as best he could by offering something for her to stay for. Faramir wondered if there really was a new batch of Rangers, because if there were, they were not of the Dunedain of the south.
'Northerners, Elessar? For there are no men in Ithilien who are in need of training from the begining.' And the he looked to his sister. 'You may stay with my wife, in Ithilien. Eowyn is her name, the Lady of Emyn Arnen. I believe there are many things you can teach my men. Like wandering. I wish to deploy my men throughout the woods, in pairs, but most are skilled in fighting in numbers that exceed two and ten.'

A smile played at Brania lips. "Eowyn? Formally of Rohan, yes? I met her in Bree not long ago. We met several times over the last year or two. I did not realize she was your wife. I had seen her ride into Ithilian before, but..." She considered the offer that both men were offering her. This was a chance to be closer to her brother, even if just in physical proximity.
"I am used to only staying in one place for a few days at a stretch, save Lorien," she looked at Strider. He would understand wandering ways. "But, if I can help with the war, I will. Wood-lore is something I know well." She looked at her brother. "Perhaps I should as Rumil to assist. He is the one who taught me the ways of the Elves."

'I have a new Messenger that needs testing out. I'm sure he could be sent to give a message of yours to Rumil. Unless you would prefer to go yourself?' Faramir asked, now turning from the King to his sister. 'Although I would prefer that you do not go alone. These times are dark and dangerous. If you are to go, I would request that you allow me to come with you.'
Truth was, Faramir would like to see Lothlorien and the Elven realms for himself. He had breifly met a man who dwelled on the borders of the Greenwood, Radagast was his name, an Protege of Gandalf's and a Maiar too.
'Lady Eowyn was born in Rohan, yes. But she resides with me in Ithilien, once Eomer had granted me the right to be wedded to her. She is, we think, expecting child.'

Aragorn looked at the two. "Yes they are from the North and are not used to fighting in the South i wish for you to help them. I will go also to the Ranger Companies of the South, to help Brania become used to them, until you return Faramir." Aragorn sighed deeply. "Brania go with Faramir and Find Rumil, we will then meet here before setting out to Ithilien. Faramir can go to Rhun from there."

Brania nodded in acceptance of Aragorn's orders. She felt it wise to not remind her brother that she had been travelling for years on her own, through all kinds of darkness and hadn't died yet. She wondered how the ride back to Lothlorien would be. Faramir had brought up a lot of issues that she hadn't been aware of from his side of things. Her leaving had caused him and Boromir heartache. Until things got resolved, that could make for a very uneasy ride. The again, Faramir was used to the saddle. They could make good time and probably reach Lorien within only a few days. *
"Sounds like a plan to me, Strider. I'm sure Rumil will be willing to come. And I hear that Elladan and Elrohir are travelling southward. I saw them in Lorien not long ago, either."
(*I don't remember how many days' ride it is from Minas Tirith to Lorien)

'We will make good time to Lorien, no doubt. But we must ride hard and swift, these times are dark and the enemy travels northward beyond our borders, the Orcs have attacked Rohan and the King Eomer.' Faramir turned to Aragorn. 'They will not be able to muster as many as we had hoped, for they must allow the men of the Eastfold to remain and protect their lands, my brother spoke with me not hourse ago, he rides to Rohan.'
Faramir turned and looked out across the Pellenor fields. Not years ago, the city of Minas Tirith was almost laid to waste by the Orcs of Morgul and Mordor.
'Come, Brania, let us head for Lorien.'

Brania had known that war was coming, but she hadn't been informed off how much was going on at the time. If Orcs were really all the way to Rohan, then there was little time. She looked over at her brother. "I do know the way to Lorien from here very well. If you are needed to aid Rohan, I can travel on my own. I will bring Rumil with me to Ithilien to train your troops." She didn't know if he would let her go on her own. If the roles were reversed, she didn't think she would let him go off alone, certain that he would vanish and never return. Braina wouldn't blame him, couldn't blame him for that fear.
