Faramir sighed. The meeting with the Queen of the Southrons had not gone spectacularly well, and he had lost his cool. Gondor and Harad were now at war, which could make for a mess if the Easterlings and Orcs threw themselves onto the side of the Soutrons. Faramir looked up and saw Eomer. They had not met before Eomer rode to the black gate with Aragorn, but they had spoken alot afterwards as Faramir had asked for Eowyn's hand in marriage. They had become rather good friends.
Faramir finished strapping his sword to his steed and then walked across to Eomer.
'Good day to you, King of the Mark.'
Faramir bowed slightly, out of formality, but half way through remembered that he was talking to family here and straightened up.

Eomer laughed as Faramir bowed to him.
"Stand up straight you fool. We are family now." He told him while giving up a mighty hug.
They both walked over to the nearest tent discussing recent events as they did so. When Eomer heard about the war he immedeately pledged his riders to aid in the fighting. He would not see his greatest allies and friends fight a war without him.

Faramir walked alongside Eomer as they talked about the Southrons assualt.
'It is good to know that we still have Rohan behind us. This could be disastrous if the Orcs and Easterlings throw in there lot with this Queen. She is charasmatic and headstrong, no doubt a good leader and her people will probably adore her for trying to take fertile land, but it is in violation to the non-agression pact, as you are aware.'
Faramir turned and looked to the number of the White Company, his guard, that stood around.
'More men will die, I fear.'

Eomer sighed at the thought of another all out war. Even though he was sure of victory he thought about the good men that were likely to die at his side.
'The non-aggression pact was put in place to safe guard the re-building of our world. It looks as though that will have to be put on hold while this new war is fought.'
He walked over to one of his most loyal guards and ordered him to return to Rohan and prepare the Mark for war. His thoughts again drifted to the war just past. So much work had been put into rebuilding his kingdom, could it survive this new threat.
'Faramir' he called, 'what are the chances of the Orcs and Easterlings joining the Queen?'
He asked this with hesitation, fearing that the answer would not be to his liking.

Faramir watched as Eomer ordered his guard to return and inform his country of the iminent war. It had been his duty to inform King Elessar in such a way. As for the Easterlings and Orcs, the chances were that they would.
'They probably will, after all, they have nothing to lose. The Easterlings need more room, they are expanding fast. The Orcs are stuck in Mordor and are not liking it at all. They reclaimed Minas Morgul after we cleansed it the first time. They know that we are likely to strike them if they do not stirke us first.'
The war had destoryed many lives and now another would destroy more.

As the sun set on what may be the last day of peace that his country would see in a long time, Eomer's spirit was lifted. He remembered that his people would fight well. They hated the Orcs as much as any man and would happily stand next to their brothers in Gondor once more.
'This battle will be a long one Faramir, but I am certain that victory is possible. We must quickly retake Minas Morgul from the Orcs. Perhaps a unified message of strength like that would serve as a warning to all of what we are capable of together.'
As he said this, his heart sank. He knew Faramir was right. The enemy had nothing to lose. A defeat like that may only encourage them to join the Queen. Still, something had to be done.

Faramir smiled to Eomer. 'I have some of our allies watching Minas Morgul and the Orcs know that they are being watch and fear to leave the interior of the building. Gwahir, the Lord of the Eagles and his pack are watching the place for us. Not to mention the fact that I have a team of hand picked members of the White Company in the forest close by. No, the Orcs will not do anything until the Queen has cleared the forest of Gondorians, which will not happen.'
Faramir looked gravely towards the city that was Minas Morgul. It was not far from their current location.
'The peace may last for weeks before she tries again. No one knows.'

Upon hearing the this, Eomer smiled back. 'When i return to Rohan i will double my patrols. We'll slaughter those Orcs who still dare enter my realm.'
His thoughts surned to Helms Deep. It had only just been rebuilt and already may have to be called into use. The Rohirrim would show their enemies that the men of the West are to be reckoned with.
'We will soon have to discuss our war plans. Perhaps we should call all our allies. Gather an army that would challenge that of the Pellanor Fields.'

'Yes. We have sent riders north to alert the Elves, we have not recieved replies yet, and have no assurances that there are any left in Rivendell. Those that remain in the woods, Thranduil's people may reply but I do not know if they will send us any aid. They may, at Legolas' calling, but no one knows.
The Rangers of Arnor have been spread among my men and I have dispatched a number of them to protect the borders of the Shire to ensure no one gets in.'
Faramir stretched. His leg hurt from the battle the previous day.
'We shall go to war and this time meet them head on and win.'

'Good. I'll send some of my best men to keep watch over the Black Gate. Meanwhile i shall reinforce Helm's Deep. Has word been sent to the Dwarves? Surely they'll be happy to kill Orc at our side this time?'
He knew this wasn't true. The Dwarves cared little about what happened to men. As long as their ancient halls were safe they didn't care.

Faramir grinned. In general the Dwarfs tended to like staying in their mountains digging up treasuers, but as far as he knew Gimli son of Gloin had pledged his allegiance and that of the Dwarfs of Moria. Riders had already been sent to the Iron Hills, but it was not known how long it would take for a reply.
'Gimli and the Dwarfs of Moria have pledged allegiance to the King. Those of the Iron Hills will be aware of what has happened within the month we hope. It is unlikley that they will come, but we can always hope.'

Eomer had only briefly talked to Gimli, but from what he could remember he is a brilliant warrior and true to his word. The thought of Moria fighting alongside him lifted his spirits. Perhaps this war would be easier than expected.
'Any word on the size of the Queen's forces?' He asked.
He knew from previous battles against the Southrons that their numbers were vastly greater than that of Rohan. He clung to the hope that together they could see off this threat.

Faramir grimaced. He remembered the fighting that had taken place, fierce and devastating. 'She must command a great force if all she sent to attack Ithiliens Borders was the Company that we fought off two days past. Perhaps numbering the same as Mordors forces during Sauron's peak, but one can only guess.'
'How about the Rohirrim? How many men can the Kingdom of Rohan muster for the war? Surely more than last time, seeing as there will be time to prepare and call upon all that you can?'
Faramir hoped that Rohan could pledge more than the force that had come to Gondor's aid during the War of the Ring.

Éomer turned from Faramir. He stared out across the land towards Rohan. 'The Rohirrim will answer Gondor's call in full force, but it will take time. My riders are spread out across my land, the Orcs continue their raids on my villages.'
His thoughts now drifted to those who died in the last war. The death toll would likely be similar this time round if not greater. He knew that his people loved him, but would they follow him into a war of this scale?
'I think I can raise a force of 10,000 riders in a few weeks. More will be available but it will take time. How many men can you muster for the cause?'

'The king has a number that is unknown to me. But most of my men are spread across the forested regions within Gondor and Arnor. Many are north protecting the borders of The Shireland others are spread thin covering the east of Itilien from Orcish threat and now the majority of my number are in the Southern regions of Ithilien protecting the borders from the Southron threat.'
Faramir looked across to the four men that had come with them.
'Two days past myself and those four men were locked in combat with our new enemy. They had never seen anything like it. The enemy were fierce and well trained. Their armour and weaponry, although not to our own standards, is very good. The Queen has been planning this for some time, i fear.'
'I must speak with the King, but we will muster a number greater than 10,000 I hope.'
