Okay, while dark elfs! ELFS DAMNIT! Spell right...
ANYWAY
As dark elfs were never apart of Tolkien's world I don't think they should be aloud! HOWEVER, because the plot is slighltly uncannon we can only assume that like men, dwarfs, and hobbits elves can be pursuaded by the evil. Therefore I say YES...we should allow dark elves...max of three.

Okay, while dark elfs! ELFS DAMNIT! Spell right... Actually, Tolkien always spelled Elfs and Dwarfs as "Elves and Dwarves". It's all right there in the Hobbit!

In the hobbit he said that the only plural way to spell dwarves was dwarfs.

Okay .. I haven't finished my app yet, but I have an idea: I don't think that Dark Elves should be allowed mainly because it takes away from the whole Fourth Age part of the plot. You see, all the Dark Elves (in the Third Age) were wiped out before the time of the Lord of the Rings, leaving none left on Middle Earth. I also think that it would be the goal of the remaining Elves (Thranduil, Celeborn, and the twins) to see them removed off the face of Arda forever. So, No.

Seems like a tie at the moment. In the event of a complete tie after all users have voted, the admin team will vote. After the admin team has voted the answer will stand. As there are 3 members of the admin team that would resolve any tie.

Ok, I am bit torn on this and I'll explain. I agree with Nothius that under normal circumstances, no Elf would ever choose to be Dark. Darkness is a destruction, especially in LotR. All darkness is shown as shadows, or a destroyed land. The Elves revere the land, and nature, and all life. It would be...sacreligious to turn dark. So I think I will vote no.
However, I do think that it might be possible to force an Elf to go bad. I actually have an idea for that from a fanfiction I read. I think that if a member comes to the admins and has a great logical reason for their Elf to have been Dark, turned Dark, then that might be allowed, but in general, as a normal race to pick from like Hobbits or Men, I say no, no dark Elves.
